Bobby "Tego" Austin
Bobby "Tego" Austin is a former Jamaica College standout player in both Manning Cup and Hockey in the mid-late eighties. He represented the Jamaican Juvenile National Field Hockey Team 1986-1988. He was also an invitee to the Senior Men's Hockey Team just before he was granted a Football Scholarship. He hails from Papine in the parish of St. Andrew. He played Minor League for Norman Gardens and Real Mona F.C respectively where he was named Captain. He is one of the founding members of the Papine Football Club, there he played in the Syd Bartlett Competition as a Schoolboy. After Manning Cup, he then took his talent to Mandeville, Manchester where he played for Los Perfectos Football Club in the Jamaica National Premier League under the guidance of National Coach Bradley Stewart and J.F.F. President Tony James.He was granted a football scholarship to Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. He was named an All New York Collegiate Athletic Conference player (NYCAC) for three years in all three positions. He is the only player to-date, to be named to All-Conference teams in all three positions. In 1990, he was selected as a defender and Rookie of the year, in1992, he was selected as a forward, as he leads his team in conference scoring. He was named Captain in his senior season 1994 and was selected as a midfielder. He was also a member of the 1991 New York State U23 Select Team which lost to Pennsylvania State U23 Select Team in the semifinals. He Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing Management and a Minor in AccountingHe has been coaching for over twenty-five years mostly in the New York and Tri-State area. He was named Bronx Men's League Coach of the year in 2002 with Champions, Jamaica College Old Boys. He was named coach of the year in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015 as coach of many times Champions Arantes F.C. He was named New York State, Youth Coach of the year in 2018 with The Eastchester Boys Juventus Travel Team who were New York State Cup Champions. He has coached at the youth level with Golden Touch Soccer, Scarsdale United, and Yonkers United. He is currently Head Coach at Eastchester Soccer Club, Larchmont-Mamaroneck F.C. and the Director of player development at Griffins Football Club '95. Bobby has one Biological daughter and many "football sons". He resides in The Bronx, New York.
